AION 2 — August 12, 2026 Update Notes: Two New Dungeons, and the Healers Pay For Them
Editor's take
Three weeks of filler, and then this. There is a new Expedition, a new four-stage Transcendence, two new accessory tiers, a mobile HUD you can finally rearrange and a shop that no longer makes you sit through a cutscene. On content alone this is the best patch since the chapter launched.
Then you reach the class tables and find out who paid for it. Every heal Chanter and Cleric own is cut — 20% at low level, 50% at high — and both healing passives lose their flat amplification outright, replaced by a value that scales off attack power. The compensation is range: 25m becomes 40m on nearly every heal. You will keep more of the raid in reach and put less health back into it.
That is a deliberate design statement, not a tuning pass. Healing throughput was the ceiling on how long fights could last, and it has been lowered on purpose while seven other classes get their healing-reduction debuffs strengthened at the same time. Battlegrounds go further still: the entry debuff is now a permanent stat, and incoming healing there is another 30% worse than before.
The other quiet bombshell is matchmaking. Battlegrounds accept only solo or full five-stacks now, with class balancing applied to the solo queue, and cross-faction teams are allowed in cooperative modes. Whether that fixes premades or just splits the population in half is next week's argument.
Read the healer tables before you log in. Everyone else can enjoy the dungeons.
TL;DR — content is back. A new Expedition, Corroded Deus Research Base, opens with Exploration and Conquest (Normal/Hard), and Transcendence Noiran's Hidden Legacy opens stages 1-4 with the new Dice and Lantern Arcana parts. New Draconic craft accessories and new Abyss accessories arrive, the mobile HUD becomes editable, and the shop is rebuilt around a new [Appearance] tab. The cost: Chanter and Cleric healing is cut 20-50% in exchange for 25m ▶ 40m range, both healing passives lose their flat amplification, and seven classes get stronger healing-reduction debuffs. Battlegrounds now match 1-man or 5-man only.
Translated and annotated from the official Korean update notes published by NCSOFT for the August 12, 2026 maintenance, cross-checked against the official Traditional-Chinese post. Skill, class, dungeon and zone names are resolved from our own database rather than the machine translation on the source page. It follows the August 5 notes, which added no content at all.
[Content & System]
Expedition — Corroded Deus Research Base
Exploration and Conquest (Normal / Hard) open together.
| Mode | Entry level | Entry item level | Ode Energy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exploration | 50 | 3,800 | 40 |
| Conquest (Normal) | 50 | 3,800 | 40 |
| Conquest (Hard) | 50 | 4,500 | 60 |
Transcendence — Noiran's Hidden Legacy
Stages 1 through 4 open at once, gated by item level rather than by clear order.
| Stage | Entry level | Entry item level | Ode Energy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 50 | 3,800 | 40 |
| 2 | 50 | 4,100 | 40 |
| 3 | 50 | 4,500 | 40 |
| 4 | 50 | 4,800 | 60 |
- Noiran's Hidden Legacy drops two new Arcana parts: Dice and Lantern.
Arena / Battleground
- Cooperation Arena and Battleground matching now builds teams regardless of race.
- Battlegrounds match 1-man or 5-man only. Five-stacks are matched against five-stacks; solo players are matched against solo players.
- Solo battleground queues apply a class balance correction between the two teams.
- Players who stay out of combat for a set time in a battleground are removed from the match.
New Equipment
New Draconic craft gear
- Accessory craft blueprints for the Dragon Creator King / Dragon Destroyer King line are added.
- They are crafted using the Radiant Eungryong King / Giryong King accessories as inheritance material.
- The craft material Runaway Energy of Fear: Accessory (Bound) is obtained by material-converting either a Lava Heart accessory or the equipment change voucher from the new Expedition's guaranteed rewards.
New Abyss gear
- Guardian / Archon Royal Guard Captain accessories are added to the Abyss shop.
- A blueprint is added to inherit-craft Guardian / Archon Legion Commander accessories into the Royal Guard Captain tier.
Mobile HUD editing
- Parts of the mobile HUD can now be edited directly.
- While editing you can set grid spacing, UI scale and whether snapping is used.
- UI elements can be resized and repositioned precisely, and individually hidden or unhidden.
- The Stigma slots and Transformation slots can be separated, then rearranged or resized independently.
- A new expansion shows all eight consumable slots at once.
- The [i] button in the HUD edit settings window opens a detailed control guide.
Crafting, Race Understanding and the rest
- Crafting probability: the info panel gains combo chance by proficiency-level difference. Use the toggle to the right of the base chance to switch to it.
- Race Understanding: an auto-analysis function is added. Set the eligible slots, options and minimum grade against your current level; the run stops as soon as at least one result matches, and aborts if your level goes up or you run short of currency.
- Shugo Festa: on the Mysterious Track, colliding with a whirlwind now applies slow instead of knockback.
- Abyss: server rematching resets artifact occupation and the Abyss Corridor. Check the CM hideout for server matching details.
- Advanced Distribution: Dice — dice can only be rolled within the distribution range, and if nobody wins the roll the item goes at random to a party or force member on the same map. Sanctuary keeps its exemption from the range limit.
Class Changes
Read this first — the healing rework is the story of this patch. Chanter and Cleric heals lose 20-50% of their output depending on level, both healing passives have their flat healing amplification deleted and replaced with an attack-power-scaled value, and nearly every heal goes from 25m to 40m radius. At the same time the healing received reduction debuff is strengthened on Gladiator, Templar, Brawler, Ranger, Chanter, Spiritmaster and Sorcerer.

[Other] — Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
- Title: Guardian of Morheim — the NPC Oliver in the Object of Memories quest is renamed Oli.
- Domain mission quests appropriate to your character level are surfaced more often.
- The Ishalgen server's short name changes to Halgen.
- Nameplate Abyss rank: while a stealth skill is active, the Abyss rank icon now shows white for allies and red for enemies.
- Wings and emotes in the shop and content-coin shops now also check character storage when deciding whether a purchase is blocked.
- Wearing a full special costume set that includes an appearance no longer prevents [My Appearance] from applying your own character appearance. With the set fully worn and nothing hidden, selecting the chest piece enables the [My Appearance] / [Set Appearance] buttons.
- Pet auto-pickup can now be toggled ON/OFF. Turning it off stops the pickup — but the remaining usage time still counts down.
- The contribution required to obtain an Ode Energy Cube in Expedition and Transcendence rises from 1% to 5%. This percentage may be adjusted again later.
Fixes
- Character Change: changing character through the Character Change window turned a Soul Binding Stone set in a shortcut slot into a Greater Soul Binding Stone.
- Material Conversion: on the first conversion after opening the UI, the recipe changed or the quantity you had set was reset.
- Battleground: the invulnerability at the starting point becomes a defence-type buff that reduces damage taken to near zero, with improved visibility.
- Battleground: the healing-received and HP-potion-recovery debuffs applied on entry are moved into the base stats inside the battleground. Potion recovery is unchanged, but healing received is a further 30% lower than before.
- Floating monsters in domains that switched to a flying state when struck no longer do so.
- The entry confirmation button for Shugo Festa and Dimensional Invasion did not respond to its shortcut key.
- Terrain in Chaos Abyss Ereshuranta Middle Layer where characters could get stuck in mid-air is fixed.
- The domain-transfer portal marker was not shown on the world map.
- The amount of Silentium obtained from Hidden Cubes is slightly increased.
- The Runaway Energy of Fear: Accessory (Bound) item is added to the [Expedition — Exchange Shop] unlocked by clearing Trial dungeons.
Recovery & Compensation
- Sealed dungeon express pass achievement fix. Achievements that failed to complete when a Sealed Dungeon Express Pass (Bound) was used between July 1 and July 15, 2026 will be marked complete. Affected items and achievements: Altgard Pepper (Bound) Sealed Dungeon Express Pass (Bound) (Elyos) → The Unsealed Altgard Pepper (Bound), What, Here Too?; Verteron Unsealed Sealed Dungeon Express Pass (Bound) (Asmodian) → The Unsealed Verteron Unsealed.
- If you bought a Verteron Unsealed / Altgard Pepper (Bound) Sealed Dungeon / Garrison Express Pass from [Shop] > Breeze Trading Company > Events and material-converted it into 5,000 Enhancement Stones, the used pass will be reissued at the August 12 maintenance.
- Reissued passes, and passes bought with Quna, can be material-converted into 500 Quna through a separate recipe.
We'll keep working to provide better service. Thank you.
