AION 2 — Inside Client Build 120: Auto-Sync Arrives, a Class Conversion Service Waits, and the Outland Map Fills In
Nothing here is announced. The September 30 notes are a small Abyss patch; this is what the client that shipped with it says. The client routinely carries code, art and text for features weeks before they open, and sometimes for features that are reworked or dropped. Names and layouts tell us what a feature is shaped like, not when or whether it launches — and every guess below is marked as a guess.
What we left out, and why. Most of what looks new in this client is not new to this site: Commendation, World Marker, the Hall of Fame and the boss gimmick gauge were covered in our September 9 client article; Domination and its class-ranking rewards have been live since September 2; Fire Temple opened as the Ordeal on September 23; Founder's Pack and the EU refund wording belong to the Global launch. We checked each item below against all of that. For each one we say whether it is new in this build (absent from the September 14 client) or has been sitting in the client for weeks.
The short version
- Auto-Sync is new in this build. An automated version of Soul Bind attunement, with a settings window, a stop button and ten player-facing strings. It is not in the September 16, 23 or 30 notes.
- Class Conversion is a service that has been sitting in the client since at least September 14 — thirteen client classes, two tables, tags on items and skins — with no text and no data. We have not written about it before.
- A "Trust" meter is new in this build: a HUD widget and a table with no text, plus limit lines in the trade windows that look connected to it.
- The Outland map went from 11 files on September 9 to 526. The mode was announced in June as a 100-player free-for-all; it still has no dungeon or map row.
- The ~18 GB download is mostly repacking. Of about 774 000 asset paths, 3 900 are new and 725 are gone: roughly 0.5%.
1. The Outland map fills in

The June Summer Festa recap described Outland as a 100-player free-for-all: everyone starts with basic gear, farms to survive, rewards tiered by placement. In our September 9 client article the Outland folder held eleven new files. This build adds 391 more, for 526 in total, and most of them are materials and foliage — the dressing of a map, not its skeleton.
- The map texture is a 2×2 grid of 2048-pixel tiles; all the content is in one of them.
- There is no
Dungeonrow, noMaprow and no text for Outland anywhere in the data tables. - Sitting in the client / new art: the art is new in this build; the mode itself was announced in June.
We can say the map is being built out. We cannot say it is near release: art often runs ahead of the game rules by months.
2. Auto-Sync

New in this build. Three client classes that were not in the September 14 client: a settings popup and its list item for choosing the attunement targets, plus their init parameter. The Soul Bind screen gained an Auto-Sync button, a Stop button, and a "Target Settings" step. Ten strings shipped with them, among them:
- "Auto-Sync Target Settings" and "Target Option Settings"
- "Select materials and options for Auto-Sync."
- "No selected target settings for Auto-Sync."
- "Auto-Sync currently in progress." (shown if you try to attune by hand meanwhile)
The settings table also carries two timing fields for attunement, soul_attune_casting_time and soul_attune_result_time. It looks like a repeat-until-you-get-the-stats loop, and our reading is that the Stop button ends it. We cannot say what the selected targets are, what it costs, or whether it is limited to a membership. It is not in the September 16, 23 or 30 notes.
3. Class Conversion
Sitting in the client since at least September 14; never covered here. Thirteen client classes belong to it: a class list, a goods panel, an inventory view of equipment, a skill-information panel, and the system object that runs them. Behind them is data plumbing that has not been filled in:
| Piece | What the client has |
|---|---|
ClassChange table | source classes, target classes, a skill-change group, a maximum number of weapons that may be converted, and the weapon grades eligible |
ClassChangeSkillMapping table | ordered groups that map each class’s skills onto another class’s skills |
| Tags on items and skins | ClasschangeEquipGroup on items and ClasschangeSkinGroup on skins, tying a weapon or cosmetic to its equivalent in another class |
| A shop event | NPShopPurchaseClassChange_Success — the name suggests conversion is sold through the cash shop |
The tables are in the new class layout only: the data files do not contain them yet, and there is not one line of player-facing text. So we do not know which classes can become which, what it costs, or whether it exists outside a paid service. The event name is the only hint at how it is sold.
4. A Trust meter, and limit lines in the trade windows
New in this build. Two client classes, a HUD widget and its step widget, appeared since September 14; a TrustScoreStep table (an id and a description, nothing else) sits with them, and a HUD icon for it exists. There is no text for it in the localisation.
The trade windows changed in the same build:
- The gold-limit tooltip gained a title, a guide line, a state switcher and a Trust line.
- The purchase and multi-purchase windows gained an "expected" line, a purchase-limit line and a limit-price switcher.
- The calculator gained an "available to calculate" price and a limit-info button.
- A new currency-limit popup; the client also has a limit-type list (
Battle,ExchangeKinaLimit,TradeBuyLimit,TradePayoutLimit,ExchangePayoutLimit).
Our reading is a trade cap that depends on a trust score. That is an inference from the layout — the meter has no text. The settings table has a daily_kina_limit field and no weekly_kina_limit; we compared against a July schema, so we cannot say which build made that switch.
5. Art for content that is not in the game

| What | This build | Table row or text? |
|---|---|---|
Dungeon_L_0021 | map texture and 24 new cutscene files (42 in total) | no dungeon row, no map row |
| Frost Valley party map | 68 new files, 172 in total (our September 9 article counted 51 new at the time) | still no row and no text |
| Halloween props | 187 new files of 363 in the folder | no Halloween text in the localisation yet |
| Boss folders Vellum and Kairak | 9 new files of 106, and 5 of 27 | Vellum is named in quest dialogue (a lore character, not a boss encounter); the name Kairak appears nowhere in the localisation |
A Halloween prop set suggests a seasonal event; that is as far as we will go. None of the four items is a new zone: every one adds to something that already existed.
6. Where our last reading landed
On September 9 we wrote that Cromede had a full sixteen-skill kit plus a separate "Trial" set and no place to fight, and that Ulmar had eight skills and eight invisible summon NPCs. The Fire Temple Ordeal arrived in the September 23 update, and this client holds the boss's Trial-variant skills: longer casts, longer cooldowns (for example 15 s to 20 s and 48 s to 55 s) and a Trial-named animation. It is one datapoint, but it is the pattern: a boss with no place to stand and a suffix that names a mode is a mode that ships within weeks. Outland, Dungeon_L_0021 and Frost Valley are in the same position today.
How to check any of this
- Class names for Auto-Sync, Trust and Class Conversion appear in a class dump of the game, compared between the September 14 and September 30 clients; data-side claims were checked against the extracted tables.
- Every count above is a path or string count between two extractions and can be reproduced from the game files on disk.
- What we cannot check from files: launch dates, prices, regions, and whether a feature is enabled server-side.
Mesh and animation export was not done for this article, so no character or monster models are shown.
