Mechanics and damage windows
From 70% health, the shield stance reflects attacks for four seconds and gains a damage stack for each hit. Stop attacking completely. Hitting through the stance strengthens the following area attack, turning an avoidable pause into a dangerous party hit.
Treat the counter stance as a planned break in your rotation. Saving burst until it ends protects the kill; a DPS comparison should include how many counter phases occurred and the resulting fight duration.
